This is the real advantage. A Hakone or Kawaguchiko day trip burns 10–12 hours including hotel pickups and traffic. The 90- or 120-minute flights put the lakes, the coast and the mountain in a single window. The transfer puts you in Oshino in about 35 minutes of flying. If your Japan itinerary is tight, the helicopter buys days, not just views.
You lose the ground: shrines, ropeways, lakeside walks, themed buses, and the chance to wait out a cloud from a viewpoint café. A helicopter that arrives to a socked-in Fuji has little Plan B. A coach trip can still do Hakone, food and shopping. If seeing the mountain clearly is uncertain and you enjoy slow travel, the regular day trip is the rational product.
Special occasions, private groups, travelers who have already done Fuji by land, and anyone for whom an extra day on a bus is the scarce resource. The winery day is the hybrid: you fly, but you still get a long meal and a hosted stop. That is the closest thing to a “luxury day trip” in this set without sitting on the Tomei Expressway.
