Book it when the group is four or five and you want the longest Fuji-and-Hakone loop from Tokyo. Skip it if you are two people, or if you need to land.
This is the long private circuit: two hours, five seats, and the only flight in our set that is really built around Hakone as well as Fuji. You pay for air time, not a lunch stop.
Most people shopping “Mt. Fuji helicopter” are actually shopping three different jobs: a long scenic loop, a landing with a meal, or a one-way transfer. This listing is the first job, done at full length. You take off in Shinkiba, spend the middle of the flight over Hakone’s lake-and-ridge country, and come back to the same heliport. There is no winery, no Oshino drop-off, and no evening city-lights version.
The five-seat cabin is the spec that should decide the booking before the photos do. With four or five people the per-person number starts to look like a serious private tour rather than a stunt. With two people you are buying empty chairs. Couples almost always spend the money better on the winery day or the 90-minute Tokaido flight.
What the extra 30 minutes versus the Kamakura routing actually buys is not a new mountain. It is more time on the Hakone side and a less rushed coastal run. If Hakone is not on your mental map, you will not feel the upgrade. If you have already done the lakes by bus and want the caldera as one picture, this is the aircraft.
Families and small groups who can fill the cabin, and anyone treating the flight as the main event of the day rather than a transfer.
Skip it if you are a couple, if you want a hosted lunch at the mountain, or if you need to stay in the Fuji region overnight.
Thirty minutes shorter, three seats, lower group price. Same general westbound idea, less Hakone. Better default for two or three people.
You spend less time circling and more time at a table. Wrong if you want two continuous hours in the air; right if the day should feel like a celebration.
Opposite job: you land in Oshino and do not come back. Do not buy the full circle if your hotel that night is by the lakes.
